Who's that guy? It Is Me Fear!

Who’s that guy? It is me FEAR!

Most poker players would never admit to it especially at the table for the cost of their admission could be hefty one.  What else could it be? I am talking about the one aspect that keeps us from exploring all that life has offered, it is me FEAR!

Being witness to several poker tournaments over the last month I was never prepared to hear these words uttered: “I am scared of that guy.”  The first reaction is of course is no way, think about all the bravado that takes place at a table.  Players posing, acting, flexing, discussing everything from the size of their wallets to flashing wads of cash for re-buys or cash game reloads after busting out, and don’t forget the common scene of grown men verbally shouting at each other to command an opponent respect for his or her authority.  Never in my days did I think I would catch a player whisper gently to the other player and I quote, “I am scared of that guy.”

Now a few folks may say, what is the big deal it happens all the time? I am reminded by a poker book by LARRY W. PHILLIPS, ZEN AND THE ART OF POKER time less secrets to transform your game that poker likens to warfare.  Extreme as it may sound it's a crucial reminder that this game made up of intimidating factors including losing your bankroll (money), constant glaring, various talents and skill levels, and even table bullying.  Having heard this is firm it is a reminder that in this game one of the key components to your success is striking fear in the hearts and minds of your adversary.  If you decide to take up this game for more than sporting fun, DON’T PLAY SCARED.
